ati.com: ATI silent on Radeon x800 Pro
ATI R420 Gets Name, Release Date Today various news sources including Anandtech and TheInquirer confirmed the name and release date of ATI's latest video card. The New cards, based on ATI's R420 chipset are to be called the Radeon x800 Pro and the Radeon x800.
Both cards are expected to be in stores on April 26th, 2004. This will coincide with the release of NVIDIA's newly announced GeForce 6800 Ultra. NVIDIA's new offering is rumored to produce a score of over 12,000 in FutureMark's 3DMark03.
Both NVIDIA and ATI are remaining relatively quiet on these products as the release date nears. At CeBit in Germany both cards were shown behind closed doors to those who were fortunate to catch a glimpse of the new technology.
Update: Pictures of NVIDIA's new GeForce 6800 Ultra have leaked onto the web and can be seen here:
ATI X800 and NVIDIA GeForce 6800
The Radeon X800 and the GeForce 6800 Ultra were launched last week but getting your hands on one of these cards prove to be difficult. Most shipments from manufacturers are expected to arrive sometime this week or the next while the Premium Edition versions of both cards won't be available until next month.

Many gamers who are eagerly anticipating many of the games currently on display at the E3 Expo in Los Angeles will likely wait for the faster edition of these video cards--due out later this year--that will offer more RAM, faster core and memory speeds, and will also introduce new features such as PCI-Express support.
The new hig-end cards from NVIDIA and ATI are priced in the $499.00 range or you can wrangle up some even costlier cards if you look for some extreme solutions by vendors such as Gainward.
The mid-range cards are currently on sale for $399.00 while the mainstream budget cards that are the bread and butter for the video card industry are yet to be seen.
